Santa and chase in the same day!?!

Today I had the wonderful pleasure of attending the Bambinos Christmas party and wow did it look fun.

All the usual toys were laid out for the children to play with whilst parents got to have a good chinwag about the coming horror that is Christmas morn, dinner and the big tidy up.

However not long after the last of the children arrived than who should appear upon the stage? none other than good old St Nick himself, the children in the room rejoiced as Santa called them all by name to give them just what they wanted for Christmas with (of course) absolutely no intervention from the parents that brought them to this wonderful event.

Surely this could be the most exciting part of this wonderful day? It would appear not.

Whilst the children quickly unwrapped the presents given by their beloved Christmas icon amidst scream and squeals of excitement and unabashed childish glee a few eagle-eyed parent spotted someone approaching from the car park.

The room all but exploded as Chase from paw patrol walked through the door, the much loved canine star was soon surrounded by overjoyed children and parents taking pictures as he high fived and hugged his way across the room.

To top off this excitement fueled and gift-filled day there was a buffet of sandwiches and savoury treats laid out for children and parents to enjoy, this was all washed down with grape juices and juice pots.

All in all, I believe this day was a great success and a lovely end to the Bambinos year, children left smiling gifts in hand and hearts bursting with joy with all having had a wonderful time.

We here shall miss you all until we see you again on Wednesday the third of the new year.

Good night, God bless and Merry Christmas to you all in this most festive of seasons.

Maggies Stretch and Relaxation Yoga

You dont need to be a Pretzel for this Yoga

Recently I dropped into Maggie Palmer’s Stretch and Relaxation Yoga Class.

When many people think about Yoga they imagine people on little mats stretching their bodies into all kinds of stupifying Pretzel like positions and to be honest with you, so did I until I saw this class.

This class with Maggie Palmer is based on Yoga style exercises but designed to be much more gentle for those that may not quite be as bendy as a well-known children’s straw.

The exercises were gentle and relaxing whilst still stretching the body to aid in better mobility, it seemed to me that the attendees enjoyed the class as they were in high spirits; laughing and joking the whole way through, a few times even managing to get Maggie to crack up a little.

It was a pleasure capturing the media for this class as I felt they enjoyed my presence and shared jokes and good vibes with me too.

I look forward to seeing the attendees of this class again if I ever have the chance.

Zumba fitness, how do you do it??

I visited the Zumba Fitness class with Maggie Palmer recently and here’s what I thought.

I was even welcomed to join in

My first impression of this class was before I even got to the class, I was welcomed by members on Facebook when it was notified that I would be visiting the class, I was even welcomed to join in (an offer swiftly weasled out of).

This class isn’t just for women, it’s open to men, women, boys, and girls.

At the class itself the members were very welcoming and friendly to me singing the praises of the class and joking about my possible participation, Maggie Palmer (pictured below) was very helpful and thoughtful going so far as to notify all in the class and give anyone the chance to hide from the all seeing eye of the camera, this class isn’t just for women, it’s open to men, women, boys, and girls.

The class was energetic and fast paced It gave me the impression they were really pushing to the limit to burn fat, tone their bodies and really have fun.

I may even attend some time down the line.

Contrary to the joking of my boss I did not end up joining in but what I have seen of this class gave a really good impression, I may even attend some time down the line.

If you are interested in Zumba, burning fat, toning up or even just having a good fun workout head down to Maggie Palmers Zumba class Tuesdays at 7:00PM – 8:00PM

Let’s hope we see you there soon.

Center News, Seniors stroke group

Seniors Stroke Group, how you touched my heart.

“It’s so much better than the other groups I have gone to, it’s so friendly.”

Today I spent some time with the seniors stroke group seeing the stretch and relaxation exercises they perform and spoke with the group personally to get their point of view on the group.

Not a single attendee had a bad word to say about this group, they all praised the center the group and Maggie Palmer on treating them in a respectful friendly and most importantly, equal fashion.

“This group really helps and isn’t the usual tea and biscuits, they help us to recover not just talk about it”

This group helps sufferers of strokes to get back on their feet and back to life as they knew it before, the group attendees are treated so respectfully that at points I would never have thought of them as people with any kind of mobility or cognitive difficulties, the exercises were gentle but thorough and catered to the needs of all in the group, nobody was left out or forced to do anything they felt they were unable to do.

“My daughter attends other groups besides this one and this is the only one that I have been welcomed to join her”

After the exercises the group attendees retired to a lovely laid out dinner table and a full dinner of sausages, jacket potatoes with cheese and baked beans all the tea coffee and refreshments they could want for followed by a home made apple strudel all prepared in the five star hygiene rated kitchen here at the center. (they eat better than I do at home)

Even carers and family members are welcomed to join the meal and the exercises, in my personal opinion I believe this truly helps to give carers and family members insight into the struggle and progress of their clients and family members that they support.

“People think you just get over a stroke but you don’t, it takes practice and patience to get through it.”

I was invited to join them for dinner and discussed the attendees feelings about the group, the center and of the staff, however this was not before I watched with joy in my heart as Maggie Palmer and another group attendee helped a wheelchair bound woman to walk on her own two feet, I am told that she has made great progress and previously could barely walk a step.

Over a wonderful dinner I was told;

“It’s so much better than the other groups I have gone to, it’s so friendly.”

“My daughter attends other groups besides this one and this is the only one that I have been welcomed to join her”

“This group really helps and isn’t the usual tea and biscuits, they help us to recover not just talk about it”

“People think you just get over a stroke but you don’t, it takes practice and patience to get through it.”

ABLL Assistant Manager Pat told me; “It really is a pleasure to do this with them, there aren’t many groups that do what we do and we wish we could do it more often”

If you or anybody close to you has suffered a stroke, I would 110% recommend this wonderful, helpful, welcoming and friendly group to help you transition from sufferer to survivor to recovery.

And remember you are NOT alone.
